BURLINGAME — The Peninsula Humane Society, which provides animal control for San Mateo County, is facing animal cruelty accusations from some current and former employees that its executive director blames on a union pay dispute.

“This organization does an astonishing job for the animals,” he said. “And these allegations are horrid hurtful and, most importantly, false.”
