When the Palo Alto boys’ four hundred freestyle relay team was disqualified in Friday’s swimming and diving meet last Fri the Vikings thought they lost their opening SCVAL dual meet at Monta Vista by a slim margin.

That was before a mistake in the scoring was discovered. A hardware error incorrectly entered the scoring of the two hundred individual medley, in which Paly senior Alex Liang won in 1:58.60 and in which the Vikings outscored the Matadors, 9-7. The computer scored it Monta Vista, 9-7. The two-point shift gave Palo Alto an 86-84 edge in swimming events.

Palo Alto swims at Saratoga at 3:30 in the afternoon Friday.

Finn O’Kelly fired a 41 and Erik Morris shot a 43.
